The outside of a house takes a beating in this part of Nottinghamshire, and exterior paintwork is usually the first thing to show it. Flaking window frames, a tired front door, greying soffits and fascias or render that's gone patchy will age a property faster than anything inside it.
Exterior work is all about preparation and timing. Surfaces need scraping back, sanding, filling and priming before any topcoat goes on, and the weather has to be right — there's no point putting paint on damp or freezing masonry and watching it fail by spring. I'll be straight with you about when's a sensible time to do it rather than rushing it at the wrong end of the year.
